Commands run from client machines or host machines

1. ping

The ping command can be used to check the connectivity among two different nodes in the network.

The tracert command can be used to check the whole path used by the communication between the sender and the receiver.


* The tracert command can be used between data terminal equipment like laptops or desktop computers, whereas between routers there is a trace command to check the whole path.

The ipconfig command shows us the network configurations of the data terminal equipment, like laptops or desktop computers.


* The network configurations like IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS addresses, etc. 

4. arp

3. ipconfig

The arp command finds the physical addresses that correspond to the IP addresses.  

5. netstat

 
The netstat command displays active TCP connections.

6. nslookup

 

The nslookup command is used to find a domain name with respect to its IP address and resolve the issues related to this.
